Light the Night for Sight

Thursday, June 13th

Light the Night for Sight is an evening walk celebrating the gift of sight and emphasizing safe summer celebrations. The walk is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of consumer fireworks, educate the public on the importance of sports eye safety and UV protection, and provide information on how to preserve sight.

  • Light the Night for Sight walk to benefit Prevent Blindness Iowa

  • Check-In: 6:30pm

  • Walk Start: 7:30pm

  • There is no cost to participate. Walkers are encouraged to raise donations to support Prevent Blindness Iowa’s sight saving programs.

  • Those raising $100 will receive a glow-in-the-dark T-shirt.

Johnston Lions Club Tent

Thursday, June 13th @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Saturday, June 15th @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  • Eyeglass and hearing aid recycling

  • When you come to celebrate Green Days, bring your old eyeglasses and hearing aids to the Johnston Lions Club tent. We will recycle them!

  • Kindness kits

  • The CDC has declared that loneliness is at an epidemic level. Do you know someone who could be lonely, sad, or not feeling well? Come to the Johnston Lions Club tent and create a kindness kit! Bring the kids and select items to put into an eyeglass case that will encourage interaction and a feeling of connectivity. Teach kindness and empathy!

Pancake Breakfast

  • Stop by the Terra Park Amphitheater for a pancake breakfast hosted by the Johnston Kiwanis club!

  • Free Will donation!
